About the session
As facilitators, we’re constantly working with one invisible thing: "attention". When people are paying attention, they’re more likely to understand what we’re saying, follow instructions, participate in an activity, and remember something afterwards. But attention isn't guaranteed - the techniques that work with 5 people in a room may not work with 50 people online, or 500 people in a large gathering. So how do we actually get better at directing, sustaining and shifting audience attention? And why not get good at this given facilitating is partly the art of getting people to pay attention to the right thing at the right time…
The premise isn't simply “How do I keep people engaged?” That's a very common facilitator concern. It's “What is happening to my audience's attention right now - and what can I actually do about it?”
