Stressed or embarrassed, we become blind to our poor behaviour. Older parts of our brain take over our actions. Daniel Goleman called it the amygdala hijack. It is relevant to our ability as facilitators to deal with difficulty. It also assists us to help our participants. We are less blind to other's behaviour. The SFN session will therefore at first explore the topic using a case study. We can then develop it further to learn how to remedy our own blindness.</span><span class="s2" style="font-kerning: none;"></span></p><p class="p2" style="font-family: Arial; font-feature-settings: normal; font-kerning: auto; font-optical-sizing: auto; font-size: 16px; font-stretch: normal; font-variant-alternates: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variation-settings: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span class="s1" style="background-color: white; font-kerning: none;"><br /></span></p><p class="p2" style="font-family: Arial; font-feature-settings: normal; font-kerning: auto; font-optical-sizing: auto; font-size: 16px; font-stretch: normal; font-variant-alternates: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variation-settings: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span class="s1" style="background-color: white; font-kerning: none;"><br /></span></p><p class="p2" style="font-family: Arial; font-feature-settings: normal; font-kerning: auto; font-optical-sizing: auto; font-size: 16px; font-stretch: normal; font-variant-alternates: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variation-settings: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span class="s1" style="background-color: white; font-kerning: none;"><b>About Bob Dick</b></span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><p class="p2" style="font-family: Arial; font-feature-settings: normal; font-kerning: auto; font-optical-sizing: auto; font-size: 16px; font-stretch: normal; font-variant-alternates: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variation-settings: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px; text-align: start;"><span class="s2" style="font-kerning: none;"><span class="Apple-converted-space"></span></span></p><p class="p2" style="font-family: Arial; font-feature-settings: normal; font-kerning: auto; font-optical-sizing: auto; font-size: 16px; font-stretch: normal; font-variant-alternates: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variation-settings: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px; text-align: start;"><span class="s2" style="font-kerning: none;"><br /></span><span class="s1" style="background-color: white; font-kerning: none;"></span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBcYTXgz0vlZr_Df65nlPbgzR7auEDyCSzLlvhMNWMEmDGe7hfg3QzxMLKh77M29zkYH2jPdA1vTMSadE4G1pAKwAsOOc0rgZ3GgVik2T4p5XHGp2mnD6stzxt104V63V23X2n_p-B_-MWgMhAY8E4icIKAfyxxUUCJUlztcIJGSJnB0DWSnDieR5AMRY/s500/BobDick2024.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="500" data-original-width="473" height="269" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBcYTXgz0vlZr_Df65nlPbgzR7auEDyCSzLlvhMNWMEmDGe7hfg3QzxMLKh77M29zkYH2jPdA1vTMSadE4G1pAKwAsOOc0rgZ3GgVik2T4p5XHGp2mnD6stzxt104V63V23X2n_p-B_-MWgMhAY8E4icIKAfyxxUUCJUlztcIJGSJnB0DWSnDieR5AMRY/w255-h269/BobDick2024.jpg" width="255" /></a></div><br />Bob Dick is an independent scholar, an occasional academic, a researcher and practitioner and facilitator, and a coach, mentor and advisor. So, I went looking for an opportunity to get some first-hand experience with leading-edge approaches and try these out with the SFN community.<br /> <br />I stumbled upon on SchellingPoint, a Philadelphia-based company with experience using augmented intelligence, data science, and other collaboration software to support its facilitation activities. The software assists the facilitator with the things humans can’t do well repeatedly. They kindly accepted our invitation to showcase the approach with the SFN community. There were some pre-session activities for this session, which many of you completed. Those who didnt register, are still welcome to come along and witness the program. <br /><br />The event will be different from our usual SFN monthly sessions. SchellingPoint has offered to conduct a ‘live’ Strategic Collaboration with some pre-session activities which many of us have now completed. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: georgia, times, times new roman, serif;">The topic for the dialogue will be something around Technology and the Future of Facilitation. So hopefully the process will match the purpose. <br /><br />SchellingPoint’s CEO Michael Taylor and their Sydney partner Marek Lis will provide case studies and answer questions.<br /><br />Through this exercise, we hope to get a better understanding of how technologies are being applied to the deeply human aspects of our work. I haven’t experienced the Shelling Point platform yet, so we will all be joining as novices in this exercise.<br /> <br />I look forward to walking along with you on this exploratory journey.<br /> <br />Kind Regards,<br /> <br /> <br />Ian Colley</span></p><p><span style="font-family: georgia, times, times new roman, serif;">SFN convening group</span></p><p><span style="font-family: georgia, times, times new roman, serif;"><br /></span></p><p><span style="font-size: 24px;"><strong><span style="color: #ff00fe;">About Schelling Point</span></strong></span><br /><br /><span style="font-family: georgia, times, times new roman, serif;">We researched and developed the strategic collaboration technology and techniques through over 400 projects, from Fortune 50 corporate strategies, global coalitions, and government policy development, to early-stage ventures, process improvement, and product innovation, to mergers, outsourcing contracts, and infectious disease strategies. <br /><br />Our solutions are based upon the work of Nobel Prize recipient Prof. Thomas Schelling, Harvard professor Chris Argyris, and our work in Relational Network Analysis. He lived, studied, worked and married in Hamburg – to then be raising two sons himself. In 2004 his family <span style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 14px;">moved to Australia to learn and live in a different culture. Jürgen is a keen observer of human psychology, he is a master in NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming), Ericksonian Hypnosis and a certified Results Coach.</span><br style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 14px;" /><br style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 14px;" /><span style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 14px;">Over the past 30 years Jürgen realised that he and his wife are doing things differently in their marriage from others. Some of their behaviour was conscious, some more on the unconscious level. And with more and more relationships all around the world deteriorating, Jürgen decided to bring his wisdom and mentoring to the people. He started his Inspiring Relationships in 2017 and published a controversial book in 2019: “Why Money Is More Important Than Sex”. His mission is to inspire thousands of men and women to stay in loving, respectful relationships. Which has a ripple on effect to their Children and the World.<br /></span><br /><a href="https://mailchi.mp/a9e5f38599eb/why-money-is-more-important-than-sex-sfn-13-march-2023?e=[UNIQID]" target="_blank">More information here</a><br /><br /></span><br /></td></tr></tbody></table><span style="font-size: 22px;"><span style="color: green;"><br /><br /></span></span></td></tr></tbody></table></td></tr></tbody></table>Sydney Facilitators Networkhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14570486754894177889noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9054795538618956019.post-46555006458688593312023-01-20T11:41:00.002+11:002023-01-20T11:41:16.112+11:00Deep Ecology with John Seed | SFN session February 13 at 5:30pm<p> </p><p>Zoom Session Link: <a href="https://www.google.com/url?q=https://us02web.zoom.us/j/85442459488&sa=D&source=calendar&ust=1674175831987388&usg=AOvVaw0mhK92Xb5v_WqrqrCtvGfR" style="background-color: white; color: #007c89; font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 16px; text-size-adjust: 100%;">https://us02web.zoom.us/j/85442459488</a></p><p><br /></p><p><span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;"></span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrfHeVtpZOwWvHGsM9IrR0cTkXue8jZySmt3U9jV6V1ziXLWS12_K-O-SFEmv-TH0u8RPly0-UMi-AE1PxJJ_9XwrdVY0xibvDamraJBcgiOBGb27a-v8mG2vdf31xah4JMQF8pP9uhoWlwKLVzxm5HL8gVI1_jXPZ1cNu4Y-Ic9CY-Y-R9QtzhWWa/s600/in%20his%20hands.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="600" data-original-width="413" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrfHeVtpZOwWvHGsM9IrR0cTkXue8jZySmt3U9jV6V1ziXLWS12_K-O-SFEmv-TH0u8RPly0-UMi-AE1PxJJ_9XwrdVY0xibvDamraJBcgiOBGb27a-v8mG2vdf31xah4JMQF8pP9uhoWlwKLVzxm5HL8gVI1_jXPZ1cNu4Y-Ic9CY-Y-R9QtzhWWa/s320/in%20his%20hands.jpg" width="220" /></a></div><br />Deep Ecology is a philosophy of nature which sees that underlying the environmental crisis there is a psychological or spiritual disease stemming from the illusion of separation between humans and the rest of the natural world.<br style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;" /><br style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;" /><span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;">The late Arne Naess, Emeritus Professor of Philosophy from Oslo University, Norway who coined the term "deep ecology" pointed out that our "ecological ideas are not enough to protect the Earth, we need ecological identity, ecological self". Embedded in our facilitation design and group leadership are assumptions about how change occurs, what assists it and what gets in the way. There are many change models out there, I use 3 or so different ones depending on the context. My provocation is that there is one at the centre of your practice and this is the one that matters.</span></p><p><span face="Arial, "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, sans-serif" style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-size: 16px;">Come prepared to discuss 1-2 relevant situations. What kind of change was involved? What model of change were you using when it went well? What was your response when it didn't work the way you had planned? How did your theory of change evolve, if it did? There is no right answer but we can learn from each other. Each person has to come to terms with their underlying theory of change as it evolves. Most of us are still working it out. The main value is that we can refine what we pay attention to. This applies as much to life as it does to work.</span></p><p><span style="background-color: white; color: #6ba851; font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 16px; text-align: center;"><span face="arial, "helvetica neue", helvetica, sans-serif"><br /></span></span></p><p><span style="background-color: white; color: #6ba851; font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 16px; text-align: center;"><span face="arial, "helvetica neue", helvetica, sans-serif">About Rollo Browne</span></span></p><p><span style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 14px;">Rollo has over twenty five years experience in Exec coaching and Leadership Team development, specialising in individual developm</span><span style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 14px;">ent and group dynamics.
