Wildcard” – Processes and Ideas for Facilitating Large Groups
At a 'Wildcard' meeting, volunteer facilitators step-up to run a short ‘taster’ session of between 5 and 20 minutes. Wildcards offer a great way to get a whole range of ideas and tools for working with groups. It’s also a good opportunity to try something out or share something you have seen work.
November Wildcard theme ‘Processes and Ideas for Facilitating Large Groups’.
Large groups often present a challenge for facilitators. What tools are available? What works and what doesn’t? Tips and tricks to get the best out of a situation.
Sessions are not scheduled in advance. Everything happens on the night including a short debriefing.

‘Demystifying Strategy – for Facilitators’ with Greg Jenkins

Understanding strategy is critical for facilitators. Yet the language and concepts of strategy are largely misunderstood not only by facilitators but consultants and almost everyone else.
Regardless of your experience, this session will help demystify strategy broadly covering:

·       What do the commonly used strategic terms really mean? Are they appropriate?
·       What tools are available for developing strategy? Do they work?
·       What’s the difference between a ‘strategic plan’ and ‘implementation planning’? Why is the distinction important?
·       Is a facilitated workshop an appropriate vehicle for strategic planning? What are the alternatives?
·       What’s in it for facilitators?

Greg Jenkins
Greg is coordinator of Sydney Facilitators Network and a practicing Change Agent with more than a decade of experience in both the business and community sectors.
Greg believes that more than 90% of strategic plans of any variety never get implemented. This offers a once in a generation opportunity for facilitators to be an integral part of the solution.
Greg is hosting ‘Strategy Boot Camp’ intensives in Sydney on November 9 and in Melbourne on November 14.
The Strategy Boot Camp is Part I Trinity of the ‘Change Agent Trinity’ [Strategy, Change, Leadership].
The Change Agent Development Program starts via e-Learning in February 2013.

Creators of Peace is an international grass roots organisation which empowers women to be radical peace-builders, starting with themselves.
This facilitation will give a small 'taste' of a Creators of Peace circle. Whilst Creators of Peace currently focuses on women, this session encourages us all to explore what peace means to us as facilitators and what our potential roles as “peace-builders” could be.  We will also discuss some of the facilitation methods and principles used in the Creators of Peace circles.
The focus is on building trust and friendship across divides and differences through sharing personal stories and on understanding the nature of peace and the role of each of us plays in destroying or creating peace.  Creators of Peace Circles have taken place in over thirty countries around the world from Sudan to Switzerland, to Sydney and the Solomon Islands.
Facilitators
The session will be co-facilitated by Christina Deangelis and Shoshana Faire, who have been running Peace Circles in Australia, Nepal, Switzerland and elsewhere.  As an experienced and skilful facilitator, Christina has worked with over 100 organisations in Australia and overseas. Her clients have included public servants and police cadets in Northern Ireland, ex-combatants in the Solomon Islands, university students, teachers, Rotarians, and young people throughout Asia and Eastern Europe.
Shoshana brings over 25years experience in the field of Conflict Resolution and facilitation. As cofounder of the Conflict Resolution Network and Director of Professional Facilitators International she has brings extensive experience in leading skills development programs, facilitating meetings, resolving conflicts, mediating and coaching.
